Duke Trip No. 3
We’re in North Carolina again. Mike is scheduled on Monday the 25th to begin Cycle 3 of his current regimen. However, we had to begin this trip a bit early due to some concerning blood counts. All is stabilized right now. Read on for more.
Sick Nigh Unto Death
This one is less a medical update and more an emotional/spiritual one. These are so much harder to write, but just as necessary to share because cancer journeys affect your whole life, not just the physical part.
Duke Trip Two (Cycle 2 Update)
On Monday, Mike received his first treatment of GemOx Cycle 2 and had an appointment with the doctor. We received promising news and know a little bit more about future plans. Mom is receiving her midway PET scan as I type this update, so we’re anxious to see those results
Duke Trip Number Two
We’re leaving Sunday for our second Duke trip for treatment. Mom is recovering from her last cycle beautifully and has a “halfway point” PET Scan on Thursday. Mike got a blood transfusion today. Read on for the details.
Duke Day 8—Discharge!
Mike was discharged yesterday and is feeling much better. Still really tired, but much, much better. As of right now, he has no doctor’s appointments or treatments until Monday, so we’re enjoying some much-needed rest!
Duke Days 6 & 7—Internal Bleeding
We’re still here. Of course, we’re still here. It’s us {woeful snort of acceptance here}. We’re learning to take the blows in stride and understand that this is the season we’re in.
Plans Changed, a.k.a. Really Good News!
The plans were changed again yesterday, but it’s great news for the first time in a while!! Bottom line, Mike’s getting discharged from this stay today!!
Duke Trip Day 3 & 4
We have a plan now! Yay! I love plans. Unfortunately, this plan will keep us away from home for a few weeks, up to possibly a month, in total. Regardless, it’s a good plan by a great hospital and we’re hopeful about it.
Duke Trip Day 2
Yesterday was a pretty calm day here. Mike did get a full MRI under anesthesia.
Duke Trip Day 1
Yesterday, the Duke oncology department called and asked Mike to get to the hospital as soon as possible for an admission through the ER so that he can get a much-needed MRI of his full spine under full anesthesia sedation. Read on below for more info.
